What is the current IRS fine amount for not reporting payment on a TIN? My understanding is that it had a major increase not long ago, up from $100 each TIN.

Penalties for non-filing increased a few years ago. The penalty depends on how late you file—$100 if you fail to file before August 1 of the filing year or do not file at all, with a maximum penalty of $1.5 million per year.

See the “Penalties” section of The AP Network’s Form 1099-Misc Filing Basics. Also see IRS General Instructions for Certain Information Returns, page 17—Penalties.
